Body Image and Art

Guy Cry Club CIC

10:30am and 1:30pm, Education Room

Art can be a brilliant tool for expressing ourselves, especially when we don’t have the words to say how we feel. In this workshop Director of Guy Cry Club CIC, Ben Driver will guide you through a process of creative expression. Participants will be invited to create a piece of art in response to the theme of ‘Body Image’; how we feel about our own body, what we think of beauty standards, what ideas we have about what a man should or could look like and everything in between.

Tea & Chat

MANUP?

10:30am and 1:30pm, Seminar Room B

Join Dan and Sam from MANUP? as they delve into the often-taboo topics of booze, drugs, and sex, and the alarmingly thin line between casual use and addiction. In this candid discussion, they'll unpack the psychological undercurrents that can lead to substance abuse and dependency, exploring how what starts as pleasure can spiral into a coping mechanism. They'll also shed light on the mental health crises intertwined with these addictions, breaking down barriers and bringing to the forefront the conversations we need to have. Whether you're struggling, know someone who is, or just want to be more informed, this talk is an essential step towards understanding and compassion.

Talk Club Taster Session

TalkClub

10:30am and 1:30pm, Auditorium

Talk Club is a UK male mental health charity helping men to improve their mental fitness. They prefer to call it mental fitness because their talking groups actively help men to understand how they’re feeling by asking ‘How are you? Out of 10?’ then explaining why. It helps to build resilience, and the numbers prove it.

Join Joe Thomson as he provides a safe space to explore what you can expect from a Talk Club meetup, how their approach to mental fitness has helped men and further opportunities for attending regular meets. Open to men over 18.
