Send your submission to: suffolkqueervoices@gmail.com
Deadline: Friday 27th October

Metamorphosis: A Suffolk Queer Voices art and literature exhibition

The exhibition will be a hybrid of art and literature. We will accept various different forms of art such as, paintings, photography, sketches, crochet/knitting, graphic design, illustration, and with the possibility of sculpting. We will be accepting literature too, for example, short prose (up to 1,000 words), flash fiction (up to 500 words), and poetry (up to 20-24 lines).

For shorter work, we would like to create zines that are available during the exhibition for people to take away with. Our goal for this exhibition is to platform queer writers and artists in the Suffolk area, bringing positive attention to an underrepresented group from a rural area. The hybridity of art and literature emphasises the variation in voices, allowing people to express themselves how they see fit. Metamorphosis is an intrinsically queer theme that explores transitioning through stages, but also of blossoming into a final form. Our hope is to facilitate this blossoming with our exhibition. From Tuesday 7th November to 21st November 2023, The Hold will be displaying an art and literature exhibition that focuses on Suffolk queer voices utilising the theme ‘Metamorphosis’. This exhibition will also be available online.

We would like to receive all work by the Friday 27th October. The exhibition will take place in Ipswich, so we would hope that you can either send your work to The Hold or would be able to travel to Ipswich with your piece.
