KINTSUGI by Marco Ferri

“This project, named Kintsugi 金継ぎ, is born in an introspective and transitional period of my life, partially coinciding with my long stay in Japan. Hidden inside myself it arose, a strong emotional experience that pushed me to explore remote sides of my character. I found "shelter" in photography, which revealed crystal clear the fragile aspects of my personality…”

“…Fascinated by Kintsugi, I decided to apply the same technique to my photos: I ripped them apart and reassembled the pieces with gold. A slow, meticulous and introspective process where fallen Ginko or Japanese maple leaves now metaphorically return to life within the precious golden texture. While melancholic withered flowers, tears and graves light up under the influence of a thin but warm aura, prayers never answered and abandoned in a temple in the middle of the city regain value. Finally my once sad portraits are recomposed through the therapeutic ritual of the eternal magic and brilliant Kintsugi.”
